Most
of us at some point in our lives consider wanting to live forever. We are all
held hostage by the fact that we will one day die and often think it would be a
good idea to break this cycle of life and death. We imagine having the ability
to stay youthful unendingly and instantaneously regenerate damaged cells and
organs, in other words, being immortal. But is immortality as we imagine it, actually a stupid idea? Let’s see.
10. Sad and Cold
You’ll grow cold and numb as you continue to lose
the people you grow to love again and again until you detach yourself from
mortals and their emotions.
9. Life Sucks
While there are bursts of happiness in life and
moments of bliss, to be completely objective, life sucks! It really does. It’s
brutal and even pointless. Being immortal you’ll eventually grow bored and
depressed of life wanting to die but cannot.
8. Too Chill
You’d get fired from your jobs for slacking off and
wasting time; but on the bright side you’ll have all the time in the world to
find another one. And the cycle continues.
7. Busted!
Eventually you’ll be discovered and captured by
mortals and put in a lab for research. They’ll infect you with diseases to
study how your body cures it and cut your limbs and remove your organs to study
how they regenerate. Then send you off to the church to be tortured for making a
deal with the devil.
6. Rule the World.
After witnessing ages of humanity's stupidity, you'll definitely try to rule the world and put things in order. And while that is smart, the stupid idea is when you become a Fascist Communist dictator to do it.
5. Lonely Boner.
If an asteroid or solar flare wipes out all life on
earth, you’d be alone to wonder the planet with nothing but your own thoughts to
jerk off to.
4. Aliens
You’ll perhaps live long enough for an alien
civilization to visit and colonize a barren earth. Hopefully your as big a fan of aliens as that guy.
3. Hell
Scientists say the sun is now in the middle of its
life cycle, and will explode in about 4-5 billion years. In the few hundred
million years before the explosion, it will swell up and become a red giant as
big as the Earth's orbit. It will therefore swallow the Earth. In other words
you’ll be burning in a fiery ball of gas for like forever unable to die.
2. Living for Nothing
According to the Big Crunch theory eventually the universe
will implode and return to an infinitely small singularity, being immortal
you’ll consciously exist in nothingness forever. Deep.
1. The Irony
You’ll eventually live long enough to figure out a
way how to die and then kill yourself.
